Ferry Operations: In August 2012, Kalangala Infrastructure Services Ltd (KIS) commissioned MV pearl as the first of the two ferries. In February 2015, the second ferry MV Ssese was also commissioned. By the end of December 2017 the number of Ferry crossings increased from 1300 to 1352.
Power Operations: KIS was licensed by the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) to generate and distribute electricity on Bugala Island using a Solar-Thermal Hybrid Power generating system. In December 2014, the company started to supply electricity to Bugala Island under a 24hour service regime. The electricity is being generated from the company’s new power generating facility at Bukuzindu, Mugoye sub-county Kalangala District. Currently the company generates 1.6 MW of power ensuring that Kalangala enjoys excess power and does not experience load shedding throughout the year. As of December 2017 the total number of customers connected to the grid increased from 2508 to 2061
Water Operations: Initially the Company constructed two water supply systems in Kasekulo and Mulabana. The two pilot water supply systems have remained operational since their commissioning in November 2007. In January 2016, the Company commissioned, Bugoma, Kagulube, Kibanga Maboga and Mulore water supply systems sending safe water coverage to about 80% on the island and by March 2014 with rehabilitation and expansion of Kalangala Town council Water supply system and construction was completed in August 2015. As of December 2017, total consumption of water increased from 11,311 cubic meters to 11,683 cubic meters due to increased number of connections & System coverage .
Road Operations: The expansion and rehabilitation of 66km of the Main islands Road commenced in June 2013 with Spencon Services Ltd as the main contractor. Construction works was completed in March 2016 and the Road was handed over to the Government for maintenance as provided under the Implementation Agreement.
